The objective of the Rotary Club Riverside is to support the Community in Vanderbijlpark (and surrounding areas) with poverty alleviation projects. These projects are driven by volunteers within the framework prescribed by the International Rotary Foundation and based on the Future Vision Plan.
Rotary programs encourage the Youth to become part of the Rotary-arena with programs such as the Interact Youth Program in schools and the Rotary Youth Leadership program for personal development .
We strive to bring together a group of people from different professions, occupations and gender to enhance our service to the Community. Your support within the Rotary Club Riverside will also be of great value to your personal growth and self-esteem.
The Rotary Club Riverside is committed to launch projects to the benefit of a positive and healthy environment.
The future of the youth is in our hands, lets work together to make their world a better place.
The website is a focus on local activities. Please join us if you want to support your community; your expertise in your environment may be of great value to the community and the objective of Rotary namely “Service above Self”.
We meet every Tuesday at the Shakespeare Inn, 19:00. Please join us

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL - background
Paul Harris established the first Rotary Club in Chicago in 1905. The Club was started by four members and meetings took place in a rotation format at different venues – thus the name Rotary. There are more than 3 000 Rotary Clubs worldwide.
The Paul Harris Award is the highest recognition in the Rotary Foundation for member’s contributions. Various members from the Rotary Club Riverside did receive this prestigious award.
Women were welcomed as members in 1987 for the first time. Today women fulfill a prominent role in the local, district and national management structures.
SERVICE ABOVE SELF
Members soon realise that fellowship is fundamental in creating a better world for all and Rotary Clubs strive towards mutual goals of excellence in their communities.
The first project in the world where Rotary was recognized as a service organization was in downtown Chicago in the early 1980’s. (Public washrooms were upgraded)
The theme for 2010 is THE FUTURE OF ROTARY IS IN YOUR HANDS. The theme is changed every year to enhance the direction and focus on projects in the following year.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (Ryla)
The youth are invited through the Ryla to participate in a weekend-long program where issues in different communities are highlighted. This program is of high value to these learners who are in the process of making career choices and considering future their role in their communities.
